Crypto security firm PeckShield recently issued an alert regarding a phishing scheme aimed at followers of a well-known crypto influencer whose account on X (formerly Twitter) was compromised. PeckShield advises users to steer clear of any Telegram links posted through the influencer's account, specifically cautioning against a fake airdrop and wallet-related instructions promoted in recent posts.

Posing as @AndyAyrey, the compromised account directed followers to join a Telegram group for an alleged token launch. Followers were encouraged to share their SOL wallets and were promised a Solana airdrop in return. The post further enticed users by claiming that the token launch would occur in “10-15 mins,” creating urgency to attract unsuspecting users. With a significant follower base, the post quickly gained attention, exposing numerous followers to phishing risks.
The fraudulent tweets presented an illusion of an exclusive opportunity to receive tokens directly, attempting to exploit the trust the influencer had established with their community. Followers were urged to buy into a “1 SOL dev supply,” a clear phishing attempt intended to redirect them to a scam Telegram channel.
The increasing frequency of phishing attacks in the crypto space highlights the critical need for digital caution. Hackers often target popular accounts to deceive followers through scams disguised as “airdrops” or “exclusive token offerings.” This recent attack underscores the growing sophistication of phishing schemes and emphasizes the importance of vigilance for both influencers and their followers. Requests to share wallet addresses or engage with unofficial Telegram channels are common warning signs of potential scams.
In response to PeckShield’s alert, many in the crypto community have spread the warning, advising followers to report the compromised account and avoid interacting with any questionable links or posts. This incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities of social media accounts and the importance of robust security practices, particularly for influential figures in the crypto space.
